Mural Project: Climbing across the 7 Continents

I’m soon to start work on a massive mural project at Coleham Primary School in Shrewsbury. Over the next month, I will work with the school children to paint a huge mural over their climbing wall. The mural will depict a climbing adventure around the world, through each of the 7 continents: Hoy Stack for Europe, Utah for North America, Roraima for South America, Kilimanjaro for Africa, Everest for Asia, the Glasshouse Mountains for Australasia and Queen Maud land for Antarctica. The children can then envisage what it would be like to climb in these amazing locations.

Work beings next Tuesday!

Review from Oxon CE Primary School

Kind words from Mark Rogers, Headteacher at Oxon C.E. Primary School.

“Rory worked in our school at the end of April 2012 as part of a project linked to an exhibition of his work at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust.  The project started with two truly inspirational assemblies about Rory and his work.  The assemblies were extremely well received by both children and staff.  Rory’s work with groups of children was equally successful with the children really enjoying the sessions and producing some high quality art work.  Throughout the process Rory’s communication and organisation have been excellent.  I have no hesitation in fully recommending Rory to work in schools”.

Drawing Inspiration from Nature

My exhibition ‘Drawing Inspiration from Nature’ opened last Thursday and was a great success. We raised over £600 for the Shropshire Wildlife Trust and had a superb evening of art, music and some great talks on nature topics. The artwork exhibited included work by Robert Guy, Sarah Lean, Jacinta Ingham, Chloe Hardman, Mark Boyd, Katie Fuller and Eleanor Tallowin. The exhibition was also supported by pupils from Oxon and Coleham Primary schools, who exhibited their artwork alongside that of the professional wildlife artists.

Kingfisher – pen, charcoal and paint

Possible new style for next year’s exhibition, using a range of media to give both a rough and a refined effect. I’m hoping to produce around 3-4 originals for the exhibition, which will mostly be a coming together of other artists and photographers.

Sumatran Tiger

Sumatran Tiger, using Letroset pens and acrylic paint. I am hoping to develop this style further over the next few years – I think there’s a lot of mileage in it. I am offering, at present, to do personalised Christmas cards for £25. They will be similar in quality to this drawing, A5 in size (A4 folded over) on quality card. I can manage perhaps 3 between now and Christmas, so if you’re keen, let me know asap!

Mural painting weekend

I recently completed a series of mural paintings with a wildlife theme. They were painted on the bedroom walls of the Johnson’s house, for their 4 girls. The girls helped us paint and we all had a great time! We managed 8 paintings over 2 days. Below is an example of what we did. If you’d like me to paint a mural on a wall in your house and make it a fun activity weekend for your children, just send me an email.
